The Baltimore Orioles fan base were ranked somewhat low in FanSided’s Fandom 250 rankings.

The Baltimore Orioles were ranked 191st in the ultimate rankings of fandom, ranging from sports, entertainment, celebrities and more in FanSided’s Fandom 250.

The Baltimore Orioles fan base ranked seventh among MLB franchises, behind the first-ranked fanbase in all of Fandom 250, the Chicago Cubs. Following the Cubs (#1), the other teams ahead of the Orioles are the New York Yankees (#25), Boston Red Sox (#29), St. Louis Cardinals (#111), New York Mets (#129), and Los Angeles Dodgers (#182).

However, the Orioles fan base ranked ahead of several MLB franchises including the Kansas City Royals (#192), Cleveland Indians (#198), and San Francisco Giants (#226). As expected, the Yankees and Red Sox were featured in the top-30 with the Orioles rounding out the three American League East teams to make the Fandom 250 list.

Fandom 250 labels Birdland as one of the most prideful fanbases in baseball, and despite flying under the radar, the Orioles fanbase is always happy to remind others their team is in contention as well. Even through the down years, the fans in black and orange continue to pack one of the most beautiful ballparks in all of sports, Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The massive Orioles fanbase is supported by people throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Before the Washington Nationals, the Orioles was the established team in the nation’s capital, and an enormous amount of fans maintain their loyalty to the Orioles despite the Nationals coming to town. As a Washington, D.C. native myself, I grew up watching and rooting for the Baltimore Orioles. I’m proud to say I’m still a diehard Baltimore Orioles fan living in D.C.

In my opinion, the Orioles 191st ranking is a bit low, and the Oriole faithful deserve better. However, ranking in the top ten of MLB franchises for the Fandom 250 is an honor and something Birdland should be very proud about.

Are the Baltimore Orioles fanbase ranked high enough? The Orioles sadly are the lone Maryland team to rank in Fandom 250. Do you think the Baltimore Ravens or Maryland Terrapins should’ve made the Fandom 250 list?
