2. Baltimore Orioles Acquire Adam Jones, Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, Kam Mickolio, and Tony Butler from the Seattle Mariners for Erik Bedard

In the 2007 season, Erik Bedard had one of the better seasons we’ve seen from Orioles pitchers. He also set the current Orioles record for strikeouts in a season with 221. The Orioles cashed that in in a big way by getting five players from the Seattle Mariners for Bedard.

While Mickolio and Butler never amounted to much, Jones, Tillman and even Sherrill to an extent became valuable contributors to the Orioles. Bedard, however, struggled mightily with injury issues and was never able to really repeat his 2007 season.

Jones, so far, is a five-time All Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, and a Silver Slugger winner, while Tillman has been an All Star and a very solid contributor to the Orioles starting rotation over the years.

Even George Sherrill had his useful moments, getting the Orioles 31 saves as their main closer in the 2008 season, though unfortunately those 31 saves came with a 4.73 ERA and 13.8% walk rate.
