4. New York Yankees – Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann, Gary Sanchez

Preseason prediction – 4th, Alex Rodriguez, Dustin Ackley, Austin Romine

I ranked Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees fourth in the preseason based on his age and wondering whether he could rebound from his bad end of 2015. In one word, no. Rodriguez retired before the end of the season, and swift and stunning end for one of the best and most controversial players of his generation. Rodriguez batted .200/..247/.351 with nine home runs, seven doubles, 31 RBIs, and 19 runs in 65 total games.

But, Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann, and Gary Sanchez had good, average and outstanding years respectively, helping keep the Yankees out of last. Of these four, only Sanchez will be back in pinstripes in 2017, and he will be the everyday catcher. However, expect the Yankees to sign themselves a new DH before Spring Training begins.
