Will the Maryland Terrapins get to six wins?
By Steve Rudden

The Maryland Terrapins come into Saturday’s game needing just one more win to be bowl eligible. Will they be able to get that elusive win in the last three weeks?
You can say that the Maryland Terrapins have had a successful season under first-year coach DJ Durkin. The Terps started the season out well, but have struggled against better opponents.
They’ve exceeded expectations this season and have performed well considering how much they struggled under former coach Randy Edsall. Coach Durkin was brought in because of his passion and his recruiting skills. For years to come, Maryland football will be able to recruit a lot better in the DC area because of Durkin.
In years past, most of the top talent in the area signed with other schools. Maryland football didn’t have an elite football program at that time, but now that will change under DJ Durkin.

The running game is the reason why the Terps have been successful this season. You have to worry about multiple running backs as well as Perry Hills. They can go the distance at any moment. My issue with the Terps offense is the passing game. Hills doesn’t have an excellent arm, and that has cost them in the games where Maryland has lost.
The Terps have a few young quarterbacks on the roster, so we will see if they have what it takes to make the Terps a title contender in the Big 10. DJ Durkin will continue to improve the team with highly touted recruits.
I don’t think that many fans had the Terps being bowl eligible in DJ Durkin’s first year as coach. Typically it takes a season or two for them to get the results they need to be successful in the program.
For Maryland to be bowl eligible this season, they need to win 1 of the last 3 Big 10 games. The schedule doesn’t look that easy with Ohio State coming to College Park. After Ohio State invades College Park, the Terps travel to Nebraska, before Rutgers comes to College Park.
The game against Rutgers is the only game I see the Terps winning to give them six wins. All they need is that 6th win to give them a shot at one of the many bowl games in College Football.

I’m looking forward to seeing what this Terps team can do the rest of the season and for many other seasons under DJ Durkin.
