Around the beginning of Spring Training, I did my annual series ranking the AL East by position, starting with the catchers, and now first basemen. So where do the Orioles land?

If you want to read my assessment on how my rankings turned out (not well, due to several breakout years) at the catcher position,you can do that here!

As forfirst base, I will admit that the biggest surprise obviously was Hanley Ramirez. I predicted the first base experiment would go terribly in the field (it didn’t) and he would again struggle to hit in the AL East (nope).

The other issue is I continue to not considerEdwin Encarnacionat the first base position, but he continues to play about half his games there.

In looking at those rankings compared to performance, I will examine each player who played at least 10 games at the position for that team.
