I am going to wrap up with two guys that Orioles’ fans love to pair together, Mike Wright and Tyler Wilson. Wright appears first, because he has the better stuff of the two, but was a total disaster for the Orioles in 2016.

Wright is a guy who has a lively fastball, but seems to struggle with being a thrower, not a pitcher.

Wright broke Spring Training as the fifth starter for the team, with Kevin Gausman on the disabled list. He made 12 starts on the season, and by the time he was permanently out of the rotation, his ERA was 6.12. Which is even more troublesome considering that in 2015 his ERA for the year was 6.04.

Mike Wright is under team control until 2021, so the team has several more years to try to make him into a major league starter. So far, it has been a failed experiment, however.
