I’m not sure that Chris Davis was the most disappointing for the Orioles, but he definitely did not meet the expectations held for him after his big deal in the off-season.

Davis led all of major league baseball with 219 strikeouts, which almost matched his batting average of .221.

Crush did add 38 home runs and 20 doubles, and was fourth in the AL in walks with 88.

After his excellent 2015 season, I think expectations for Davis may have been too high. Let’s not forget, he hit under .200 in 2014 and is a guy who strikes out a ton.

The plus size is that Davis added Gold Glove caliber defense at first base. In fact, if he doesn’t win the Gold Glove it would be a crime. But, when you are paid to be the best player on the team, expectations are going to be high.

The good news is that Davis hopefully can use the off-season to get healthy and let his hand feel better, as the Orioles have the slugger signed until 2022.
