Despite returning to the playoffs in 2016, several Orioles dealt with sub-par seasons, whether due to injury or just a bad year.

This list isn’t quite as easy as the list of players who exceeded expectations for the Orioles, which I had a pretty good idea of those five before I wrote the piece.

Some players stick out, such as Chris Davis, Darren O’Day, Caleb Joseph. Then there are players I could include, like T.J. McFarland and Ryan Flaherty. But, TJ is a sixth starter/long man, so how much can you expect from him? Flaherty likewise is a utility player, known for his glove and not his offense.

So, I tried to come up with a list of five players whose seasons just didn’t match up to the expectations for them. Let’s start with one player who is probably on everyone’s list.
