For the Baltimore Orioles to have a chance to get to the playoffs, they needed solid contributions from Dylan Bundy.

Bundy is a guy who had not pitched in the majors in 2012, and no one knew what to expect. But, Bundy is out of options, so he had to stay in the majors.

Not only did he do that, but he also found himself a spot in the rotation. Starting on July 22nd, Bundy made 14 starts. Bundy went 5 or more innings in 10 of those starts, allowing three runs or less in 9 of them.

While Bundy never threw over 100 pitches in a game, he did make it all the way to 99 pitches in his next to last start against the Boston Red Sox.

Bundy did struggle a bit down the stretch, likely due in part to some fatigue. But, in a situation where the Orioles had no idea what to expect from Bundy, his 10-6 record with a 4.02 ERA was a huge benefit for the Orioles in 2016.

Bundy is under team control for several more years, so he will be expected to take another step forward as a regular starter in 2017.
