Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Breshad Perriman and inside linebacker C.J. Mosley are two of six players who sat out of Wednesday’s practice.

Breshad Perriman cannot catch a break.

Just weeks after returning to the practice field following a partially torn PCL in his left knee and a partially torn ACL in his right knee, the Baltimore Ravens receiver is back on the injury report once again with what the team is calling a “minor calf issue.”

Three starters were also absent from practice today: inside linebacker C.J Mosley, center Jeremy Zuttah and outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil.

Mosley told reporters that he is fine and will be back on the practice field tomorrow. Zuttah is coming off a lackluster performance against the Buffalo Bills in which he fumbled a snap and allowed a sack.

It is unlikely that Dumervil will play Sunday as he continues to recover from his offseason foot injury. Za’Darius Smith also missing practice could put Dean Pees in a bind with pass rushers against the Cleveland Browns.

The biggest concern is Perriman, who played in his first NFL game just three days ago. He made a spectacular grab along the sidelines for a 35-yard gain and bounced right up after the catch. He played in 21 of the Ravens’ 72 plays on offense in his first competitive game since being drafted in the first round last season.

The good news is that the injury is not related to his precious knee troubles. Calf injuries are coming for players during training camp, and at this point of his career, that’s precisely where he is in his rehabilitation from the two knee injuries.

Cornerback Jerraud Powers did return to the field for the first time since the Ravens second preseason game on Aug. 20. He missed Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury.

It is important to not that other than Dumervil’s ailment, none of these injuries appear to be serious. The Ravens are likely being cautious with their prized draft pick and we expect him to be fine for Sunday. We will keep you updated on the status of all these players throughout the week.
