Maryland football begins the 2016 season today. Here are our predictions for the Maryland Terrapins season.

The Maryland football is coming off of a 3-9 season (1-7 in the Big Ten). The Terps have made many changes this season, first at head coach, a new name for their stadium and an awesome incoming recruiting class. Now, they have a chance to change their fortunes as DJ Durkin plans to change the culture of Terps football.

Howard (Saturday, September 3rd) (0-0)

The Terps will start the season with their first win. I don’t thing that surprises many people because Howard just doesn’t have the horses to match up with the Terps. W.

@FIU (Friday, September 9th) (1-0)

Who else remembers when Maryland would lose to teams that they are supposed to beat? I know that I do. However, that will not be the case against FIU. W.

@UCF (Saturday, September 17th) (2-0)

Another W! The Terps are actually hot. Hopefully they can keep this up into Big Ten play. W.

Purdue (Saturday, October 1st) (3-0)

The Terps win another one at home. They will just keep pounding the rock and they have finally found their identity. This will be a good way to kick off Big Ten play. W.

@Penn State (Saturday, October 8th) (4-0)

This will be a good old fashioned butt-whipping. The Terps will have a lot of trouble playing at Happy Valley, a place that isn’t so happy for opponents. L.

Minnesota (Saturday, October 15th) (4-1)

The Terps come into this game at 4-1. They will look at the rest of their schedule and see that this is a must win. I expect the Terps to dig deep and beat the Golden Gophers. W.

Michigan State (Saturday, October 22nd) (5-1)

Bloodbath. That is the easiest word to describe what will happen to the guys from College Park. Michigan State has one of the best coaches in the country in Mark Dantonio. He won’t allow his Spartans to lose to an upstart Terps team. L.

@Indiana (Saturday, October 29th) (5-2)

After seven games, the Terps are looking like a bowl-eligible eligible team. Can they dig out another win in Bloomington, Indiana? They will! Terps win! They are now bowl eligible and the DJ Durkin-era has begun as a success! W.

@Michigan (Saturday, November 5th) (6-2)

DJ Durkin returns home in his first game as the head coach of the Terps. It will not be a warm welcome. The Terps will run into the buzz saw that is the Michigan Wolverines football team, led by Jim Harbaugh. L.

Ohio State (Saturday, November 12th) (6-3)

The Terps cannot and will not win this game. Urban Meyer will have his boys ready and they are coming to start some trouble for the Terps. L.

@Nebraska (Saturday, November 19th) (6-4)

This game could go either way. However, I think that the Terps will eek out a win in Nebraska. Just hear me out for a little bit. The Terps will get sick and tired of losing to powerhouse teams. A stamp of Durkin’s influence will finally start to show in this Terps team. He isn’t a loser and they aren’t losers. W.

Rutgers (Saturday, November 26th) (7-4)

What a huge turn around the Terps have made. They have gone from being a 3-9 team to a team that is bowl-eligible. Although they have seven wins already, that won’t be the end of their success. The Terps will win once again. W.

Maryland football will go 8-4 during the regular season and 5-4 in the Big Ten. I expect them to make the Pinstripe Bowl and play in Yankee Stadium. They will have a rematch with one of their old ACC rivals and that should hype them up. From this point, anyone should be happy for the Terps’ success.
