Baltimore Ravens: No Surprises in First Round of Roster Cuts
By Joe Serpico
The Baltimore Ravens have begun to make roster moves ahead of Tuesday’s deadline to get to 75 players. So far, there are no surprises.
It is a miserable day for some members of the Baltimore Ravens. They can no longer say they are a part of the team.
There are still decisions to be made as the Ravens have slashed their roster to 79 players. They have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to get down to 75.
Tight end Ben Watson has been officially placed on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles’ tendon on the first offensive play of the game on Saturday. Joining him on IR will be cornerback Kyle Arrington, who was a long shot to make the roster.
Here is the group that have already turned in their playbook:
OL Jarrell Broxton
DL Trevon Coley
WR Dobson Collins
LB Kavell Conner
C Anthony Fabiano
WR Chuck Jacobs
QB Jerrod Johnson
LB Mario Ojemudia
WR Darius White
No shocking names, but those are sure to come in the next week. Broxton was the one player I thought could sneak on the roster as the final offensive lineman, but he joins three other undrafted rookie free agents to be cut.
There was a report that 2013 first-round pick Matt Elam could be waived in the upcoming days. Elam suffered a knee injury earlier in the preseason after battling injuries last year as well. Terrence Brooks and Anthony Levine have played very well during the preseason and have earned a spot on the team.
One would think another upcoming move is defensive end Bronson Kaufusi’s move to IR as well. That would leave John Harbaugh and Ozzie Newsome with two more moves to make before the deadline.

It will be interesting to see how the injuries to Watson and running back Kenneth Dixon shake up some of the upcoming decisions the team will make. We will update this post as that becomes available.
