Baltimore Orioles Looking for Series Win at Camden South
By Joe Serpico
The Baltimore Orioles have at least split the series with the Washington Nationals with two games to go at the O’s other home ballpark.
It seemed like the sky was falling for the Baltimore Orioles after the Houston Astros took live batting practice at Camden Yards over the weekend. With one of the best teams in the Majors coming into town and the O’s falling further back in the American League East, panic set in in Baltimore.
So of course, the Orioles respond by winning the first two games against the National League East leading Washington Nationals.
The O’s have guaranteed at least a series split against the Nats in the two games at The Yard. Now, they will travel to Nationals Park, a stadium Orioles fans are sure to fill, with a chance to win the MASN Cup.
Kevin Gausman was not spectacular in his start on Tuesday, but he did what we have wanted him to do all season. He took the mound, held a strong offense to no runs in six innings of work while not getting the bullpen taxed in the 8-1 win.
Chris Davis hit his 30th home run of the season, giving the Orioles the first pair of teammates to reach the 30 mark. Mark Trumbo leads the Majors with 38 homers, but finally got a hit that was not a home run. Baltimore is going to need those guys to continue to hit the long ball with the news that Chris Tillman is headed to the disabled list.
Vance Worley earned a save in the win, but with him pitching three innings on Tuesday, that ruled him out for Tillman’s schedule start on Thursday. Great news O’s fans: Ubaldo Jimenez will take the bump in the series finale in D.C.
The Orioles will need more all-around performances like we have seen this series. Adam Jones tied a career high with four hits. The bullpen is still the best in baseball. Manny Machado started another ridiculous double play that only he and Jonathan Schoop could turn.

The unfortunate news is that the Birds gained little ground on the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox over the past two nights. They’re still two games back in the AL East, but have a two-game cushion for the final AL Wild Card spot.
Next: Chris Tillman Headed to DL
All the Orioles can do is take care of the task at hand. A win at Camden South will give them another series win over the Nationals. The Orioles not only own their TV rights, they own them on the field as well.
