The most intriguing battle of training camp has been at running back, where it is a wide open race for a roster spot. The only player we know who will not make this team is Trent Richardson, who the Ravens waived prior to the start of camp.

The star of camp has been Towson product Terrance West, who has been explosive in the running game. Once viewed as a long shot to make the roster, some are clamoring for the third-year pro to be the starter Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. Justin Forsett is not giving his job up easily, however, and in Harbaugh’s eyes, Forsett is still the lead guy.

“I see the same running back we had two years ago, in terms of his speed, his explosiveness, his vision. He really looks good,” Harbaugh said. “I know there’s a lot of talk about the other guys, but he’s playing really well.”

Rookie Kenneth Dixon has shown flashes when he has been on the field, and Thursday will be his first moment to show us if the hype is real. And while it has been a quite camp for Javorius Allen, he showed us last season that he is capable of being an every-down player in the NFL.

The Panthers have a terrific front seven that will test the stable of running backs. The Ravens have plenty of talent at the skill positions, which is something we are not used to saying in Baltimore. Other teams will be watching to see what decisions the Ravens make as the preseason unfolds.
