Cornerback: Shareece Wright vs. Will Davis

The cornerback spot opposite Jimmy Smith is open for competition. With Lardarius Webb moving to safety, the Ravens still do not know who will start on the left side of the field. That will likely come down to either Will Davis or Sharecee Wright.

Davis was a high draft pick for the Miami Dolphins that the Ravens traded a draft pick to acquire last season. In his limited opportunities with Baltimore, he looked the part of a playmaking cornerback. That is something the Ravens desperately need in the secondary.

Wright came to Baltimore after being let go by the San Francisco 49ers last season. His first game action with the Ravens was a disaster, but his play got better as the season progressed. Whether you believe it or not, the pass defense played like a top-10 unit in the second half of the season with Wright getting a good amount of playing time.

Many felt the Ravens would address the position come free agency or the draft, but it wasn’t until the fourth round that they selected a cornerback. Tavon Young is too small to play on the outside so he will groomed to be a nickel corner. That leaves the competition between Wright and Davis. Who wins? Your guess is as good as mine. That’s why we will be closely watching this offseason.
