Defensive End: Brent Urban vs. Kapron Lewis-Moore

One of the Ravens greatest strengths is the play from their defensive line. Brandon Williams has become a force at nose tackle, but Timmy Jernigan and Lawrence Guy are both underrated in their role on the defense.

Ozzie Newsome added Bronson Kaufusi in the third round of the NFL Draft so he will take up one of the spots at defensive end. Guy and Carl Davis have been solid contributors on Dean Pees’ defense. That likely leaves Brent Urban and Kapron Lewis-Moore in a battle to decide who takes the last spot on the defensive line.

Many felt that Lewis-Moore had the potential to be a player in the NFL before injuries have hampered his career. Urban has been dealing with injury issues of his own. This will be the first offseason in which both will enter training camp healthy, and each will have to earn a spot on the roster.

In our early prediction of the Ravens 53-man roster, it’s Urban that gets the nod over Lewis-Moore. Urban seems to make more plays, with the highlight being the blocked field goal in the win over the Cleveland Browns last season. Lewis-Moore will be given an opportunity to make an impression, but Urban is the early favorite to get the job.
