Tyler Matakevich is why Temple has gone from one of the weakest programs in the country to a team that almost beat Notre Dame and ranked in the Top 25 for most of the season. There was also reason why he was a consensus All-American and was the recipient of the Chuck Bednarik Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

Matakevich is what Ravens football is all about. He is physical at the point of attack and gives 100 percent on every play. He does an excellent job of diagnosing plays and disrupting teams in the backfield. It was no fluke that he is only the seventh player in FBS history to record four seasons of 100+ tackles.

He is a tackling machine and is an old-school style of player, similar to Daryl Smith. The Ravens cut Smith for salary cap purposes, and Matakevich is basically the same player at a cheaper price. Teams will knock him down their draft boards because of his size and limitations in the passing game, but Matakevich will be a solid player in the NFL.
