The Ravens find themselves in a spot where they might be forced to take what is leftover after the five picks ahead of them. If you want my prediction on how things play out ahead of them, the QBs go 1-2. The Chargers take Tunsil, Ramsey goes to the Cowboys and Jack is the pick in Jacksonville. That leaves the Ravens with Buckner as the top player on their draft board.

Buckner would be a perfect addition to the Ravens. The front office has said that they want to address the pass rush after year in which they struggled to get after the quarterback with Terrell Suggs suffering a torn Achilles’ tendon in the regular season opener.

The reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year is a menace at defensive end. At 6-foot-7 and 300 lbs., he is the prototypical defensive end in a 3-4 defense. He can make plays in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage. He is explosive off the snap on passing downs, but also has the strength to be a factor in the running game. As we noted in our scouting report on Buckner, he should command double teams on a regular basis. The problem is teams cannot double team a front seven that also has Suggs, Brandon Williams and Elvis Dumervil coming after them.

Buckner is going to create havoc on the end and the Ravens defense has lacked the nastiness that made them great. Buckner would bring some of that back and fill a hole on the defensive line with Chris Canty off the team. Tackles in the AFC North are going to struggle to contain the defense with the Ravens revamped line.

Previous selection: Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves
