Earlier in the offseason, we speculated whether a quarterback could be an option in this year’s draft. Flacco is the starter, with

Ryan Mallett

to serve as the backup. Those two are sure things to make the roster, barring Mallett doesn’t do anything stupid this offseason.

Behind those two, they have Jerrod Johnson, who has had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears, but he’s yet to play in an NFL game.

It’s no secret that Ozzie has a soft spot for former Alabama players and even more so for their quarterbacks. Jake Coker is arguably the best quarterback that Nick Saban has had in Tuscaloosa, and he fits the mold of a Ravens quarterback as well. Coker has a strong arm which is crucial to the Ravens downfield passing attack. He is a proven winner, having won the National Championship this past season. He was even better in the 38-0 win in the Cotton Bowl, showing off his arm in a variety of ways.

He wasn’t spectacular in the Senior Bowl which will effect his draft stock. The Ravens do not need him to be anything special. He would likely be a practice squad player in his rookie year with the hopes of being the No. 2 if Mallett should head elsewhere after next season.
