Baltimore Ravens pass rusher Terrell Suggs was arrested early Friday morning in Scottsdale, Arizona.

TMZ Sports is reporting that Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens was arrested this morning. There is no official word on the reasoning for his arrest, but he was at a bar in Scottsdale at the time of the arrest.

According to law enforcement, Suggs was booked at 2:03 am and was released at 3:21 with a citation. No further details have been released at this time.

The team has released a statement:

“Terrell made us aware of the situation and we are looking into it,” said Ravens Senior Vice President of Public & Community Relations Kevin Byrne.

Suggs was a star at Arizona State before being selected 10th overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. He is a six-time Pro Bowler, the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year and the Ravens all-time leader in sacks. He missed the entire 2015 season due to a Achilles’ tendon tear in the Ravens first game of the season against the Denver Broncos.

It’s a tough blow for the Ravens who have had an active couple of days in giving Joe Flacco a contract extension, while cutting ties with Daryl Smith and Chris Canty. Suggs was expected to return to the Ravens this year despite rumors of a possible retirement. Depending on the severity of the issue, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could have a say in whether Suggs takes the field this season.

UPDATE from TMZ:

“A rep for Suggs tells us Terrell had gotten into a minor 1-car traffic accident earlier in the night — no one was injured — but someone heard it and called cops.

When cops arrived to the Mexican restaurant … they spoke with Suggs and learned his license had previously been suspended. He was detained for a suspended license and nothing more.

We’re told his suspended license was due to speeding tickets.”

Sounds like we are making this a bigger deal than necessary.
