2016 AL East Rankings by Position: Designated Hitter
By Nate Wardle
4. New York Yankees – Alex Rodriguez, Dustin Ackley, Austin Romine
Then there is A-Rod. Yankee fans probably think he should be ahead of Trumbo, but I can’t do that. This is a guy who will turn 41 before the trade deadline, and may have more miles on his legs than Ortiz. There also is the whole PED use issue. And, speaking of bad second halves, A-Rod hit .216/.324/.448 in the second half last year. The power was still there, as 15 of his 33 HRs came in the second half, but most of the other hits were not.
For the year, Rodriguez hit .250/.356/.486 with 33 HRs, 22 2Bs, 86 RBIs, 83 runs, 84 walks and 145 strikeouts. A-Rod is another guy who is going to play almost exclusively at DH, as he only played a handful of games in the field in 2015.
