Baltimore Ravens: 2015 Linebacker Grades
By Joe Serpico
is one of several undrafted Ravens linebackers to find a niche with the team and stick around in Baltimore. He has been a special teams ace for John Harbaugh since coming into the league in 2010 from Marshall.
He even found himself rushing the passer at times during the regular season as the Ravens were desperately in search of generating some kind of pressure on quarterbacks. However, he rarely made his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball and that hurts his grade. In 74 career games played, he’s only totaled 67 tackles on defense.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for McClellan as he is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. His strong special teams play has already earned him a couple contracts with the team, but another could be unlikely.
Zach Orr, another undrafted linebacker that excels on special teams, is a restricted free agent so most likely the Ravens will tender Orr and let McClellan walk. McClellan was never a star while in Baltimore, but he has been a valuable role player for this organization.
