The Baltimore Ravens should be fairly active in free agency coming off a 5-11 season. These five potential free agents would fit in with the team.

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off the second-worst season in franchise history. The front office currently has their eyes on the players at the Senior Bowl as they prepare for the NFL Draft, but there are some guys already in the league that could help John Harbaugh turn his team around quickly.

The Ravens typically rebuild their team through the draft. Ozzie Newsome likes to load up on draft picks and hope to find hidden gems in the late rounds. That’s the main reason the organization has been successful in the first 20 years if existence.

The Ravens have had some success in recent years through the draft. C.J. Mosley and Brandon Williams should be key parts of the defense for the foreseeable future. Carl Davis, Timmy Jernigan and Za’Darius Smith have shown flashes of being great. The trio of young tight ends have been very impressive.

The problem is too many players made little or no impact once drafted. Breshad Perriman not taking the field at all this season was a big disappointment. The first two picks of the 2013 draft, Matt Elam and Arthur Brown, have hurt the team. No player drafted in the third round or later in the 2012 or 2013 draft is still with the team. The entire 2010 draft other than Ed Dickson is no longer playing in the league. That’s a bit troubling.

The front office has to realize that this team has too many glaring holes to fill them all through the draft. That means they must get a few players in free agency that can come in and be effective right away.

The salary cap situation is once again going to make it difficult for the Ravens to get too crazy in free agency. The big name prizes will likely be out of their price range unless they can restructure some deals to free up some cap space.

It also should be noted that many of the top potential free agents are unlikely to leave their respective teams. Baltimore would love to get Alshon Jeffery, Von Miller, Josh Norman or Eric Berry. Truth is there is almost no chance these guys hit the open market.

Ozzie still has plenty of options to fill the voids. The primary positions that the Ravens need the most help at are pass rushers, receivers and in the secondary. Looking at the list of potential free agents, many caught the eye as potential matches.
