Maryland Basketball: Top 3 Threats to Terps Winning the Big Ten Conference
By Joe Serpico
University of Maryland basketball is still a favorite to win the Big Ten Conference. Here are the three teams that pose the biggest threat to the Terps.
The Maryland Terrapins are coming off their biggest loss of the season at the hands of the Michigan State Spartans. It was a difficult spot for Maryland to be in as Tom Izzo’s team had lost three straight entering the game and it was expected that they would be amped up for the highly-ranked Terps.
No one expected the Terps to win them all. Even the greatest collegiate teams of all-time suffered a few losses. The problem is that Maryland is going through a stretch that has seen them lose two of the last four games. They are turning the ball over at an alarming rate and the schedule is not going to get easier from here.

Next up for the Terps is No. 3 Iowa, who are the only undefeated team in conference play. Maryland basketball now find themselves sitting alone in third place in the Big Ten. Maryland has already suffered two losses in the Big Ten so a win over the Hawkeyes would be huge for them to get back into the thick of things.
The schedule does benefit Maryland as six of the last 10 games are at the Xfinity Center. It will not be an easy task as Bowie State is the only contest where you can automatically add a tally to the win column. The Big Ten is talented from top to bottom so there is no game that can be taken lightly the rest of the way.
In order for the Terps to win the Big Ten, there are three teams that they need to beat. The most obvious is tomorrow’s showdown at College Park.
