Baltimore Ravens: 2015 Wide Receiver Grades
By Joe Serpico
Many speculated who would take over as the top receiving option when Smith went down. Aiken was listed as the No. 2 wide out on the depth chart, but failed to show us that he was capable of being the top dog. He took the opportunity and made the most of it.
Every time another pass came Aiken’s way, you could hear the cash register ringing. He made himself some money this season leading the Ravens in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. The 75 receptions was the eighth best by a Ravens receiver in a single season, and his 944 yards was good enough for 12th best in franchise history. He made tough catches. He got separation. He did it all for Baltimore when opposing teams knew he was the only option on the outside.
Ozzie Newsome has to keep the former Central Florida product in purple and black next season. Aiken and Smith should start once again next season with the hope that Perriman can give this team a nice trio of playmakers for a healthy Flacco to throw to. If Aiken lands elsewhere in 2016, the Ravens would suffer a serious blow to their offense.
