Baltimore Ravens: 2015 Quarterback Grades
By Joe Serpico
Clausen was brought to the Ravens after spending the first half of the season with the Chicago Bears. He played in two games for Chicago before being waived and picked up by the Ravens. It was perfect scenario as Baltimore needed a quarterback to back up Schaub once Flacco went down with his injury.
Clausen started in the Ravens’ two biggest losses of the season, but he was not exactly terrible in those games. He was the quarterback for the lopsided affair against the Seattle Seahawks, but the two-time defending NFC Champions have rolled through their competition for several weeks. The Seahawks have made some of the NFL’s best look average.
Clausen also had one of the more exciting plays of the year against the Kansas City Chiefs. With the first half set to come to an end, he threw up a Hail Mary pass that Kamar Aiken came down with for a 48-yard touchdown with no time remaining. He had the team in position to make things interesting late on the game, but a pick-six in the red zone put them out of reach.
Clausen was given an opportunity to take the reins as the backup of the future for Baltimore, but he did not do enough to impress the coaching staff. It is unlikely he will be back with the team next season.
