4. Mike Minor – Another pitcher, Minor, like Alvarez, is a player coming off of injury issues. Minor was due $5.6 million in 2016 before being non-tendered. With the injury concerns, a low-risk, high-reward deal would be good for Minor as well.

A former first-round pick, Minor has a career 4.10 ERA, and doesn’t exactly have the greatest peripherals. But, it is the type of pitcher that the Orioles and Dan Duquette can take a chance on with the right contract.
5. Paul Janish – If the Orioles didn’t trade for Mike Trumbo, I might have Pedro Alvarez or Chris Carter here. However, the team can ill-afford to add another high strikeout, low on-base percentage player. So instead, I am putting Janish here. The O’s need a capable backup in case J.J. Hardy gets hurt. Janish is a great defender and was more than capable as a hitter last year for the O’s.
Janish is a consummate pro and is well-respected in the Orioles’ clubhouse and by Buck Showalter. The team loved him in Baltimore and Norfolk, and they have already talked about how they would like to bring him back. I say go get it done.
