Option Chris Davis

Davis – 5 yr/120 million (with increased money each year 20, 22.5,24, 26, 27.5) 1B

Pearce – 2 yr/8 mil (3, 5) – starting RF

Chris Young– 2 yr/6 mil – SP

Mike Pelfrey – 1 yr/1 mil – SP/Long man

Brandon Beachy – 1 yr/1 mil – SP/Long man

David Hernandez – 800K – RP

Eric O’Flaherty – 1.2 mil – RP

This option means that your starting left fielder is Nolan Reimold, or maybe Henry Urrutia or Dariel Alvarez. Maybe even David Lough, Julio Borbon on LJ Hoes.  What it means is that it is an internal candidate.  Signing Davis also means that the pitching you go after is going to be veterans who you are hoping for good years from, or guys with something to prove, like Beachy. If they don’t pan out, then guys like Mike Wright and Tyler Wilson will win spots in the rotation. I think Flaherty and Hernandez are two solid options out of the bullpen if Darren O’Day does not return.
