Top 5 Edsall Era Memories: #4 – Facility Upgrades

“We must protect this house!”

It’s one of Under Armour’s most famous and memorable tag lines.

Under Armour is the official supplier of athletic apparel for all Maryland athletic teams and has been a huge part in helping the Terps become a national brand. The founder, Kevin Plank, who is a former Maryland football player has been very instrumental in helping Maryland take their program to the next level.

Plank is donating $25 million to help launch the nation’s preeminent academic, research and athletic facility which will house the Maryland football program and give the team a much needed indoor facility. This facility will be a renovation of the iconic Cole Field House and will help grow the sports medicine and entrepreneurship departments.

The New Cole Field House will hopefully be finished in the next two years.

During the Edsall-era, Byrd Stadium got a much needed face lift with a turf playing surface, new signage all around the stadium and more LED boards to create a fan friendly environment.
