No Suggs, Big Problem

Even after Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs went down in Week 1 to a torn Achilles tendon, there was still plenty of confidence in the Ravens’ defensive unit. However, after seeing their performance this past Sunday, there is certainly a cause for pause.

Suggs has always been known for his pass-rushing prowess. While Suggs has been a major component of those efforts, there are other players on this roster who are more than capable of providing pressure to opposing quarterbacks, including fellow Pro Bowler Elvis Dumervil and Courtney Upshaw.

Baltimore only recorded one sack against the Raiders, a week after they compiled four sacks on Peyton Manning in Denver.

Not only are the Ravens missing Suggs in regards to his performance, but also his role as the defensive leader on the field. At this point, it doesn’t seem as if anyone is ready to assume that role.
