Start:

  • Carson Palmer, Cardinals (at Chi): Palmer is a player owners should be taking a close look at. If he’s available, snatch him up. He was second among all quarterbacks in scoring in Week 1.
  • Drew Brees, Saints (vs. TB): Brees has a very favorable matchup this week against Tampa Bay, who gave up four touchdowns to a rookie.
  • Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins (at Jac): The Jaguars weren’t bad in Week 1. In fact, they were pretty solid. However, the Panthers lack the weapons that the Dolphins have. So, start Tannehill.

Sit:

The Broncos were the best defensive unit in Week 1 and that is unlikely to change this week. Smith has some weapons at his disposal, but he has struggled against Denver in the past, so we’ll believe in the trend.

  • Cam Newton, Panthers (vs. Hou): The Texans’ pass defense is near the middle of the pack, but the reason Newton will struggle in Week 2 is the fact that he doesn’t have much around him. Greg Olsen was a non-factor in Week 1 and the other receivers are undesirable.
  • Peyton Manning, Broncos (at KC): Manning struggled a bit against Baltimore, missing some fairly easy throws and throwing an interception with no touchdowns. It doesn’t get any easier against a vaunted KC defense.

Waiver Wire Pickups:

  • Tyrod Taylor, Bills: Taylor surprised us all in Week 1 with how well he played against the Colts. He definitely has guys to get the ball to and he’s capable of making plays with his legs, making him an intriguing option.
  • Marcus Mariota, Titans: Mariota showed everyone why he was the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. He put up fantastic numbers, ranking third among all quarterbacks in Week 1.
