Kick Return Battle

The Ravens still have not found an answer to their return game since the departure of Jacoby Jones this offseason. Asa Jackson has had the first crack at the job most of the preseason, but has done little to impress. Michael Campanaro is a candidate for punt return duties, but hasn’t ran away with the job either. Will someone step up and take over the role?

DeAndre Carter is a player that could make the roster as a returner, but he is running out of opportunities to make the team. The Ravens have an abundance of receivers so his only change might be on special teams.

Lardarius Webb and Steve Smith have handled kicks during the offseason, but those are just precautionary measures should an injury take place. Both are too valuable on their respective side of the ball to risk being injured on special teams.

It is possible that Harbaugh gives these guys one more night to get something going before looking around the league for options. Teams will begin releasing players over the next week, and a quality return man could be on the Ravens radar.
