Maryland Terrapins fans can rejoice now as four star wide receiver Tino Ellis has commited to Maryland. Three weeks ago, Ellis narrowed his top six down to several Big Ten schools including Maryland and others such as West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia Tech.
He made his decision on Comcast Sportsnet’s 6pm edition of “Sportsnet Central.”
Maryland and Virginia Tech were in stiff competition for Tino Ellis. According to Testudo Times’ Pete Volk, they had a slight advantage in the numerous crystal ball predictions done by 247 Sports:
"The Terrapins and Hokies have long been considered the frontrunners for the 6’1, 185-pound prospect. The two programs combine for all of the 19 Crystal Ball predictions for Ellis, with Virginia Tech holding a slight advantage."
Maryland will be getting a guy with great hands, someone who runs his routes very well and has some Hines Ward in him as far as his pass-blocking skills in the open field. Not to forget his speed and elusiveness are a sight to be seen as well. Check out his junior year film here:
Ellis will now join Lorenzo Harrison and Darryl Turner as the third DeMatha recruit to join the Terps in the 2016 class. Maryland is still trying to get the commitment of offensive guard Terrance Davis as well. Davis is also a four star recruit from DeMatha and Maryland landed in his top eight as well.

Tino Ellis will be a welcome addition to a Maryland Terrapins offense that will have Dwayne Haskins under center. With Tino Ellis joining the Terps now, will Trevon Diggs join “The Movement?” Maryland fans hope so.
Tino Ellis is a big piece to Maryland’s puzzle, but if they can get Diggs and Davis, their puzzle will be complete in terms of blue chip recruits they were targeting in the 2016 class.
