Breshad Perriman

Leading up the the 2015 draft, Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh downplayed the need for a first-round wide receiver. They also downplayed the value of receivers with great size and speed. Of course, that was all just a smokescreen as the Ravens selected one of the top deep threats in the draft when they selected the wideout from Central Florida.

It’s difficult to gauge how a rookie receiver will fare in his first year in the NFL. There has been a wave of first-year wideouts that have instantly made an impact and the Ravens are hopeful that Perriman can do the same. Baltimore has plenty of options to catch the ball, but Perriman is the lone threat to take the ball to the house every time it is in his hands.

There is a lot of pressure for a first-round selection to perform, and Perriman has a big load on his shoulders because everyone expects him to immediately replace the departures Torrey Smith. It will likely take some time before Perriman is firing at all cylinders, and he does have the talent to be the Offensive Rookie of the Year. It will likely take some time for Perriman to get the playbook down, but expect the rookie to become a regular contributor by the midpoint of the season. They did not use a first-round pick for this guy not to see the field this season.
