Cornerbacks

This position is without doubt full of talent, which in hand, equals competition. However, I do not believe the competition will affect the main starters.

If Jimmy Smith is able to start the season healthy, he is the starting cornerback. Even with the additions of Kyle Arrington and Cassius Vaughn, I cannot see him losing his spot.

Arrington and Vaughn bring much needed depth to the team, but they do not do much to challenge the starters for their spots on the roster.

On the other side of the field, Lardarius Webb is not going to be overtaken. The new additions add depth, but they should not overtake either of the set starters the Ravens have. If either starter cannot play because of injuries, Arrington or Vaughn could slide into their role and take over.

They make solid backups and help add the necessary depth to the secondary in case of injuries, which the team did not have last year. A lot of competition could come out from the spots behind Smith and Webb, especially between the two new cornerbacks.

However, I cannot see the competition being too heavy on top. Smith and Webb are proven players for the Ravens, while the others are not. This position battle does have the potential to become something, though I do not think either returning cornerback will lose their position to the newcomers if they remain healthy.
