2. Ray Rice (2008-2013)

Rice has not officially retired from the NFL, so he could continue to play if a team is willing to give him a second chance. The Ravens are most likely not that team. While he was in Baltimore, he rushed for more than 6,000 yards with 37 touchdowns.

Except for 2013, when he battled injuries, he averaged no less than four yards per carry each season. Until his last active year, he rushed for over a 1,000 yards for four consecutive seasons.

If Rice could have remained out of trouble off the field, he could have been number one on this list.

He was able to use small stature to quickly cut back up the field for big gains. He did not run through many tackles, but he made defenders miss. When he moved into open space, he was at his most dangerous.

He could make multiple defenders miss in open space, which not only made him a threat carrying the football, but when he caught the ball as well.

He accumulated more than 3,000 yards through the air during his career in Baltimore, which made him a dual-threat running back. He had more than 2,000 yards from the line of scrimmage (receiving and rushing) on two occasions.

When he was healthy, he was the picture of consistency. If Rice could have remained out of trouble off the field, he could have been number one on this list, but he sits at number two.
