Maryland Recruiting Update 4.16.15

In the last Maryland recruiting update, we touched upon the monumental commitment coming from five-star center Diamond Stone. However, just because you find your ‘diamond’ doesn’t mean you stop there. Recruiting is a never-ending process and the Maryland athletic program has still been very active on the circuit. Here are some of the latest updates from College Park.

Basketball:

  • Diamond Stone officially signs with the Terps

The big man out of Milwaukee verbally committed to the Terps on March 27, but it is now official as he has signed. Maryland is already projected to be a top five team next season and Stone will play a key role in the team’s success. This is easily the biggest recruiting move of Turgeon’s tenure.

  • Terps offer five-star Class of 2017 guard

Maryland has offered a scholarship to Class of 2017 combo guard

Trevon Duval

out of St. Benedict’s in New Jersey. According to 247 Sports, Duval is the top player in the state of New Jersey and the No. 13 prospect in the class. Check out his sophomore season highlights.

  • Terps offer Class of 2016 forward

Maryland has also offered Class of 2016 small forward Lamar Stevens from Jenkintown, PA. Stevens has been ranked as the seventh player in the state Pennsylvania and the 132nd best player in the class. The Terps were his eighth offer. He also holds offers from Xavier, Villanova, and Indiana, amongst others.

Football:

  • Maryland offers Class of 2017 Pennsylvania duo

The Terps have extended offers to two players from Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. They made an offer to four-star linebacker David Adams and offensive lineman C.J. Thorpe. Adams is ranked the second-best inside linebacker in the nation. He holds offers from Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Temple. Thorpe now holds six offers. The others came from Pittsburgh, Penn State, Duquesne, Tennessee, and Temple.

  • Class of 2016 ATH from Texas receives offer

Maryland has made an offer to wide receiver Aubrey White out of Wylie, TX. White is considered both an all-purpose back and a wide receiver, which makes his a versatile athlete. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 88 athlete in the nation.
