When it comes to Division I intercollegiate athletic programs, recruiting is a year-round process. Teams are battling with every other school for the nation’s most talented prospects.
Of late, the Maryland Terrapins have been successful, drawing interest from some big-time high school athletes. Here’s an update on the Maryland recruiting trail.
Basketball:
Maryland is getting a head start with the Class of 2017, offering a scholarship to four-star wing
from Baltimore.

Football:
- Class of 2016 wide receiver Marcus Simms (Sherwood) appears to have Maryland as his top college choice. The three-star prospect also holds offers from Boston College, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Rutgers.
- Trevon Diggs, younger brother of Stefon and four-star receiver in the Class of 2016, has reportedly announced that Alabama is his favorite right now.
- Class of 2016 defensive end Terrell Hall committed to Ohio State over Maryland last week.
- The Terps have offered Class of 2017 defensive end Josh Kaindoh (Mount Carmel). Kaindoh also holds offers from Florida State and Ohio State.
- Maryland made offers to three Class of 2016 linebackers last week: Kyle Taylor (Gonzaga), Noah Burks from Indianapolis, and Dontavious Jackson out of Houston.
- Four-star Class of 2016 receiver Aaron Mathews placed Maryland in his top four schools, along with West Virginia, Boston College, and Pittsburgh.
