Early Stock Risers: Quarterbacks

Brett Hundley, UCLA

In an underwhelming quarterback class, Brett Hundley did his best to stand out today. Hundley ran a very solid forty-yard dash; he also did well in the broad jump and vertical jump. In the throwing drills he was fairly accurate and showed good arm strength throughout the day. The main thing holding him back is his footwork. Oftentimes he throws off his back foot and relies strictly on his arm strength. Hundley can be a good mid-round developmental option for a team that can afford to use him as a long-term plan and not a day-one starter.

Other Quarterback Notes:

There wasn’t much to take away from this class of quarterbacks. There are the two giants in Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston … and then everyone else. Winston and Mariota did nothing to affect their draft stock today. Bryce Petty looked solid in deep throw accuracy but still left more to be desired with his poor footwork.
