If you are looking for the most competitive group of starters at a position in all of baseball, you probably need look no further than third basemen in the AL East.
Manny Machado, Pablo Sandoval, Chase Headley, Evan Longoria, Josh Donaldson. That, my friends, are the starting third basemen in the AL East.
Last year, I had Longoria first and Machado second. This year, that won’t be the case, thanks to the three additions. Only one of these guys is not an All-Star (Headley). However, his backup is, in another time when Alex Rodriguez was the best player in the game.
To check out my previous rankings, look at catcher, first base and second base. And now, without further ado, let’s get to it.
