President’s Day is often the date and occasion of the Maryland Indoor Track State Championships for divisions 1A and 2A of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA). The event is held at the Prince Georges Sports Complex in Landover right next to FedEx Field. It is a prime indoor track facility on the east coast.

It was a big day for the Oakdale Bears of Frederick County, as both the boys and girls teams brought home 2A state championships.

In division 1A, the Smithsburg boys of Washington County won the state title, while the Leopard girls finished in second place to Manchester Valley of Carroll County.

Divisions 3A and 4A, originally scheduled to be contested on Tuesday, have been postponed until next Monday the 23rd due to the pending winter weather.
