Three D-I lacrosse teams from the state of Maryland start their season this Saturday. Loyola takes on Virginia in a huge Week 1 matchup of top 10’s. And Johns Hopkins takes on another Baltimore team when they host UMBC. It’s a big day for Charm City and their lacrosse teams. So where can you watch these games? Here’s the info:

UMBC @ Johns Hopkins, 1 p.m. Live streaming on ESPN3. TV provider required.

Inner city foes meet at Homewood Field in Baltimore as Johns Hopkins plays its first ever game as an affiliate member of the Big Ten Conference. Coach Pietramala has a chance to set history as he will be going for win number 159 at Johns Hopkins. If he can accomplish this feat, he will become the most winningest head coach in JHU history, surpassing Bob Scott. Worth noting: Pietramala has never lost to UMBC while at Johns Hopkins, posting a perfect 10-0 record against the Retrievers. Also worth noting that Hopkins has won their past seven season-openers. They still have to play the game, but it looks like the chances are pretty good that Pietramala will make history.

Virginia @ Loyola, 1 p.m. Live streaming starts right at 1 p.m. at http://campusinsiders.com/network/patriot_league/live/mens-lacrosse-virginia-at-loyola-maryland

This is a marquee matchup in the first week as No. 9 travels to No. 6. Loyola returns 6 starters from last year’s team that finished the season 15-2. One of those 2 losses? Virginia, as the Cavaliers downed the Greyhounds in overtime last year. If Loyola can sustain the success they have been having these past few years, they should be able to get their revenge on the Cavs. Since 2012, no other team in the nation has a better winning percentage than Loyola, as they have posted an unbelievable .933 winning percentage.

Towson will start their season on Tuesday night against Johns Hopkins, while Maryland will start next weekend against Navy. Live stream links will be provided in my weekly power rankings which will be released every Monday. Enjoy the season!
