Baltimore Orioles fans are getting frustrated with the reports linking Dan Duquette to the Toronto Blue Jays; and while that is justifiable, some of the thoughts are off base.
However, enough is enough.
Dan Duquette needs to make a decision. Does he want to work for the Baltimore Orioles, or is his heart set on working for a rival team?
Two prominent national baseball writers, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi, have once again fueled speculation that talks have continued regarding Dan Duquette going to Toronto.
This news has sent Orioles fans reeling. Some feel this explains the very quiet offseason for the O’s. Others say Duquette is sabotaging his current team, since his future team would be a divisional rival.
That is absurd. Duquette is a professional, and just like the chef, broadcaster or teacher who has applied for a job at a rival restaurant, station or school, Duquette still has a job to do.
However, the fact the man in charge of making personnel decisions is considering going to a rival is unsettling. And Duquette hasn’t exactly helped calm these reports by any stretch. The man who has, is Peter Angelos.
Angelos said back around the Winter Meetings that Dan Duquette was under contract and the Orioles had no intent on letting him out of that contract. The Orioles Majority Owner affirmed that Duquette is the man to lead the Orioles.
Today, Angelos spoke again, to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports and Dan Connolly of The Baltimore Sun, among others.
Angelos made it clear that in his estimation, Duquette isn’t going anywhere.
Here is what he told Roch Kubatko:
"“We’re pleased with the performance of Dan as our GM and last season’s performance by the club illustrates that clearly. There’s no reason we’d be willing to transfer his presence to any other ballclub. He’s received two awards for the excellent job he’s performed in 2014. As far as the Orioles are concerned, he’s our GM and we expect him to remain for the four years remaining on his contract. And very likely for additional years once that contract has expired.” – Peter Angelos."
Well then. Angelos also stated he has not been in talks with the Blue Jays. All of this while other writers, like Morosi say things are ‘close to a done deal.’

So who do you believe? The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, and that isn’t good enough for most fans.
Duquette needs to make his intentions clear, so everyone can move on from this. Even if that means the O’s are looking for a new General Manager.
Enough is enough.
