In Maryland’s first season in the Big Ten conference, the Terps managed to hold their own while surprising many of their doubters.

The Terps won a Big Ten leading five games on the road, which included wins over border-rival Penn State and Michigan. Maryland finished with a 7-5 regular season record, their second winning season in a row, and also finished with a .500 record in Big Ten conference play.
Now, the Terps are playing in their second consecutive bowl game and have an opportunity to get their first bowl win since 2010 when Maryland won the Military Bowl under former head coach Ralph Friedgen.
Five Thoughts on the Foster Farms Bowl
1. C.J. Brown has the opportunity to finish his great statistical career with a bowl game win. Brown is Maryland’s all-time record holder for career touchdowns (57) and will look to increase that number tonight. Brown was recruited by Ralph Friedgen and decided to stay at Maryland when Coach Edsall took the helm. Brown has helped to take this team from bad to good and has made some big plays during that time. Look for C.J. to go out with a bang in tonight’s game.
2. Stefon Diggs is BACK! Diggs was one of the big time in-state recruits that decided to stay home and play for the Terps. After facing injuries the past two years that hindered him from finishing both regular seasons, the opportunity to come back for the bowl game is big for this star wide receiver. Diggs has never played in a bowl game but there is no doubt he will be a big part of Maryland’s game plan.
3. Brad Craddock is the nation’s top kicker this year and has made 18-19 field goal attempts throughout the season. This guy will be ready to knock the ball through the uprights if his number is called.
4. Will Likely has been a big time player for Maryland’s defense this season. He led the Big Ten in interceptions (6) and ran two of those back for touchdowns this year. Big plays are what will help the Terps come up with a win tonight and Likely will be the guy who can make that happen.
5. In the past four years under coach Randy Edsall, the Terps have improved their record each season. Tonight is an opportunity for the Terps to improve once again by helping their coach get his first bowl game win. A win will help with recruiting in the future and will solidify Coach Edsall as the guy to continue to lead the Terrapins into the future.
