Rising Star Award: C.J. Mosley

The Ravens picked a great player with their first-round selection this year. Many teams did not have a big need at inside linebacker, which luckily allowed the Ravens to scoop him up at pick 17.

Mosley finished seventh in tackles in the entire NFL and led the Ravens in tackles. As a rookie he was fantastic, really showing how bright he is by picking up the complicated Dean Pees scheme very quickly.

As a rookie, Mosley finished as the only  player with 100 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions. It shows that he is a whole player. He did stumble in coverage at times and still has work to do in that department, but there are many defensive backs that would have loved to snag two interceptions this year.

It is definitely obvious that Mosley shines in the run game, and he has been an astounding addition to an already strong front seven.

When Mosley was picked, I was quite shocked. I was really hoping that the Ravens would address their secondary needs, specifically with safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. However the Ravens front office stuck with their best player available mentality and I would say it worked out very well to this point.
