Pernell McPhee is definitely one of the most underrated players on this defense, but he is insanely important on third down pass rush situations.
Dean Pees is very creative when using McPhee; he lines up over the guard and center using his quickness to beat the slower guards off the snap.
It is even arguable that McPhee has been the better overall pass rusher than his more famous compatriot Terrell Suggs.
McPhee reminds me a lot of the Kruger situation from two years ago. I would say it’s very likely that McPhee does not return because he will be receiving a very huge pay check from someone who may have more cap space than the Ravens. Hopefully like Kruger’s last year in a Ravens uniform, it will lead to another Super Bowl victory.
