Here at the Baltimore Wire, we strive to provide you with the best coverage of all Baltimore sports. Part of that goes beyond our own writing to bring you to the best coverage from other sources.

With that in mind, here is the best of today’s Baltimore sports coverage.

Baltimore Ravens: Joe Flacco named AFC Offensive Player of the Week by Aaron Wilson, Baltimore Sun

The title describes the content of the article pretty well, but this is big news for the Ravens and their fans. Flacco does not often get love from the press and league, but his five-touchdown performance was too much for the league to ignore.

Flacco is having a tremendous year and is on pace to set career highs in almost every major passing category. Wilson details all that in his article.

Baltimore Orioles: Monumental task in front of Orioles by Jim Caple, ESPN

Jim Caple of ESPN wrote a great article extremely early this morning. He offers an overview of the ALCS to this point, offers some analysis for the future and discusses a golden thong.

For Caple, the sky is not falling for the Baltimore Orioles. They still have a chance, according to Caple, albeit a small one. They just need to come out with confidence. It just takes one win to start a potential winning streak. The Orioles will need some relatively historic luck, but crazier things have happened.

Maryland Terps: Big Ten basketball preseason media poll: Maryland picked No. 10 by Dave Tucker, SB Nation

A little basketball for you Terps fans, as Maryland is ranked pretty far down the ladder in the Big Ten.

This is an unofficial media poll, so don’t put too much stock in it, but Tucker does a good job of breaking it down and offering his own take on it. For those curious what to expect from the Terps’ basketball season, this is a good place to start.
