Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts: Who’s Playing, Who’s Not
The Baltimore Ravens will travel to Indiana to take on a team that claims the name of the former Baltimore football team. Way back when, the team in Baltimore was named the Baltimore Colts. They had one of the best quarterbacks of all-time in Johnny Unitas and won multiple championships in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Ever since the Colts moved out of Baltimore to Indianapolis, Ravens’ fans have held a grudge against the team. Luckily for Andrew Luck and the Colts (no pun intended), they won’t have to receive that heat, because they will be playing at home in front of their crowd.
They also might get some help with a couple of Ravens nursing key injuries. Let’s take a look at who those guys are and what their status for Sunday’s game is.
DOUBTFUL: DT Chris Canty (illness), LT Eugene Monroe (knee), DT Timmy Jernigan (knee)
Canty missed the entire week of practice this week due to an illness, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will miss the game. He did not participate in a single day of practice last week either, but he still played in the game against the Panthers.
John Harbaugh says it’s because Canty is a veteran. “The more experience a guy has, the less he needs to practice,” Harbaugh said. “The younger a player is, the more he needs to practice.”
Eugene Monroe underwent knee surgery over a week ago and is expected to miss at least 3-4 weeks, which means you can pretty much rule him out of Sunday’s game. James Hurst will start in his place.
You can also rule rookie defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan out, as he has been battling a knee injury for a while and hasn’t practiced since Week 2.
Steve Smith Sr., Chykie Brown, Bernard Pierce, and Owen Daniels are all listed as probable, but their injuries aren’t real concerns, and they should be good to go for Sunday’s game in Indy.
Terrell Suggs is QUESTIONABLE
Suggs missed two days of practice this week and has a 50-50 chance of playing. He recorded his first sack last week and looks to be coming into his own, so this injury comes at a bad time.
If Suggs is to miss the game, the Ravens have some reliable replacements, such as Elvis Dumervile, Pernell McPhee and Courtney Upshaw.
Arthur Jones ruled out, eight other Colts listed on injury report
Arthur Jones (ankle) will not play against his former team. Jones was a big part of the Ravens 2012 Super Bowl run.
The Colts do have eight players listed as probable, including Reggie Wayne, Ahmad Bradshaw, and D’Qwell Jackson, but the sole reason that they are listed on the injury report is for non-injury related purposes. They should all see the field on Sunday.
