Baltimore Ravens Missing Some Key Defensive Players in Practice

There were a few notable absences for the Baltimore Ravens in Wednesday’s practice. The three most notable ones were each defensive players.

Starting outside linebacker and long-tenured Raven Terrell Suggs missed Wednesday’s practice with a thigh injury. Suggs played through the injury last week against the Carolina Panthers.

“I’ll be alright,” Suggs said. “Just some little nicks and bruises, but I’ll be alright.”

Defensive tackles Chris Canty and Timmy Jernigan missed practice on Wednesday as well. Canty also played through his knee injury last week against Carolina while Jernigan was inactive for the game.

Bernard Pierce and Chykie Brown were also listed on the injury report with thigh and neck injuries respectively. They however, were both full participants in practice.

It was reported that left tackle Eugene Monroe would miss 3-4 weeks after undergoing knee surgery last week, but his timetable to return is unknown. The Ravens wouldn’t say anything and Monroe wouldn’t give out any hints.

“It just depends,” Monroe said. “I’m doing everything I can to get back as soon as possible. I just come in and work every day to get healthy.”

That’s fine for the moment, because his replacement – rookie free agent James Hurst – looked really good in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers. Let’s just hope that he keeps it up.

From the Indianapolis Colts side of things, defensive tackle Arthur Jones did not participate in practice dealing with an ankle injury. Jones didn’t play play last week and it is likely that he will miss next week’s match-up against his former team.
