Bear with us here at The Baltimore Wire as we pause from Orioles, Ravens, Terps and other coverage to stand up from the keyboards, stretch a bit, and pat ourselves on the back. This little article is post #1,000 since the inception of this sports blog and launch on 11/13/13.
As you likely understand, we are a part of the FanSided Network’s “locals” coverage, which now numbers a total of 30 geographic areas in the USA and Canada. Of course, all professional teams have their individualized sites – in our case with Ebony Bird for the Ravens and BirdsWatcher for the Orioles. Most major colleges are also covered with their own site – in our area with the University of Maryland being written about daily at Terrapin Station.
I started this site as editor with a group of friends and acquaintances. But with me doing most of the writing, it was going to be pretty heavily oriented toward baseball. The Network recently brought on board my co-editor Shawn Brubaker, whom I’m sure you have seen is very insightful on all the details connected to football and the Ravens. The addition of Shawn and all of the new coverage on the Ravens has grown the site a good bit in recent weeks in particular.
Together, Shawn and I are thankful for the group of writers who have teamed with us over these months in this venture. We know we are still just beginning this race and have only just scratched the surface of what can and will be done.
Most of all we are thankful for those of you who come by and read. We are able to track and see numbers and know that there are many of you out there, even though the history of it has not been to have a very interactive comment board. Know that we do enjoy hearing from you, and we welcome you to weigh in with your thoughts on the topics of the day.
Beyond the pros and colleges, it is my interest to also feature top drawer high school athletes and stories about other sports ventures in the state of Maryland … or by people from Maryland. You will see some scattered high school athlete feature articles and reviews particularly of state championships. I am always open for tips and leads (and contacts) to feature such as these as a part of our content.
So thanks for coming by and stopping in. I encourage you to bookmark our page and stop by a couple of times a day to see what is happening and being talked about. Think of us as a coffee break.
And if any of you out there have a passion for writing and have a lot of opinions to express, we are always interested at FanSided for talented FANS to join the team. You won’t get stuck on the bench. Everyone plays on this team. Hit me up if you’d like to be a part of the fun.
But more than anything, thanks for being out there and reading!
